I'm planning on buying a PSP soon and am thinking of subscribing to gamefly. Any one use this service and if so what do you think about it?

ive done it on and off a few times
gamefly has a sweet free trial so you can see what its like
its a good service if you just like to play a lot of games...but if you like to hold onto them, its not really worth it
the shipping times were pretty lame too last time i had it
like 2 days to get a game to me and im in the same state they ship from
and another time they reportedly shipped a game to me and it took nearly 2 weeks for it to show up (thats prolly USPS fault tho)
anyway...id only recommend this to people with very specific needs for game playing
i.e. someone that wants to play a ton of new games once and never again

I tried it, but it definitely wasn't worth the cost. I ordered some games which took 4 days to arrive. Once I played them, the games kinda sucked, so I sent them back and canceled my account. Gamefly conveniently didn't get one of the games back from USPS, and charged me for it. I emailed them the reference #, and they immediately said they would refund my money. That was a month ago.

They have very few distro centers so unless you live in their backyard it's not worth it. I used Gamerang (http://www.gamerang.com/) once for a month since they had a center closer to me, but that wasn't worth it either since I never had time to play the games or the games I wanted weren't in of course.

The the point of Gamefly is to "Rent" games you like to try.. If you
like them you can buy them at "Used prices".. They dont promise
your going to like everygame.. They even give members discounts
on games.
If they never received the game you returned, you are supposed
to report it to them as lost.. If you did that correctly they wont bill you..
Unless you a known member that "loses games often"..
IE: the USPS is not perfect, they ship billions of mail worldwide daily
you know how easy it is to lose one padded envelope??

It all depends on "what game" is on your list, how close a warehouse
is to you. Never tried that Gamerang.. But Gamefly works great if you
use it right..
If the game you want is newest game out of course you may have to wait
for it. Many times these type of services get a limited # of copies at first.
So dont cry because you forgot to put it on your list earlier..

. If your a console/portable console player that likes to get the
newest games, and the old classics give it a try. Its a good way to try
games before you buy them.. Ive saved thousands of dollars by using
it. IE: Not having to sell or trade-in games Ive bought which turned
out to really sux.

i used it for a while and loved it.
it kind of depends on the season... right now (right after e3), new releases are few and far between, but near xmas time it's priceless. a buch of crap gets released,a dn you can play them all, and see what's worth buying.
when i used it, i didn't even buy games really... just kept one game till i grew tired, and sent it back. i rarely 'go back' to games after i beat them, or after i get sick of them.
sports games, or ones with replay value (CS, etc), i do... but after I've rescued the princess or saved the universe or whatever, i'm done with a game.
it's illegal to rent games in japan. they have a thriving used games market, but i hate paying full price to find out a game blows.

:) That's the whole idea.. Trying out the latest & greatest or older ones you missed.
If you like'em great, if you dont send them back (rent another).. :p

When your game says its shipped on Gamefly it really is shipped and from then on it is on USPS' side. Gamefly rolled out a new service called fast return and it works with USPS so you should get your games faster now. All mailers have a barcode now and when you send you games back your games in your GameQ will automatically be sent.

I use gamefly and I like it quite much, but of course we are in the slow months for releases now, so I get older games that I have never tried but wanted to. Shipping wise, I live in a super small town in the middle of nowhere, but I have been getting all games in 3 days. So far I have not had any issues with the service.

How does the games sucking have anything to do with the service being not worth it?

It wasn't a bad service when I tried it, but the shipping times got to me. I'm used to Netflix--there's a distribution center about 50 miles from me, so it's not uncommon to send a movie back today, have them receive it tomorrow, and get my next movie the following day. That's awesome turnaround time, and I don't think Gamefly can come close.
It's a great concept, though. I wonder if Netflix will ever try it...

I tried it for about 6 months. canceled my acount around april of this year. It was nice but the service sucked. I do live a ways from the shipping center, but games would take 5+ days to get to me. During that time 3 games got lost. Other games would arrive at complete random times. example, they would ship game A on the 1st and then game B on the 10th. I would get game B on the 15th and game A would finally come two weeks after that..... it just wasn't cost effective for me. I have had netflix for 3 plus years and never had a problem with them. Its nice but they need some work before i would look at them again.

I must be lucky, I get the games every 2 days... the service has been good so far... one game was stolen and they took care of it.

Used it before but the turnaround times were way too long. Send in a game on Monday and receive a new one the following week on Tue.
