I haven't been in the know about all the new things that have been comming out, it's been a while since I've built my last PC - about 5 months :P.

Anyway what are some new and amazing things that are out these days?

I'm looking to spend < $2500.

Some things I want in the PC:
1. Intel, 64 bit I guess is whats good now - I hear it's runs really good.
2. ATI video card - at least thats what I hear is good...

Other than that I don't really know. I hear they might get rid of DDR2 ram because of how hot it runs, and some other issues.

So any ideas/tips/suggestions are all welcome.

Thanks all!

If you configure smartly, you can get a lot---even if you buy from a builder---for $2,500. But if you want to game on this new computer, definitely go with AMD.

Yeah it's for gamming mainly.

Why AMD though?

This forum is for OEM systems such as Dell. Try the General Hardware forum if you are building a new PC and need suggestions on parts.

AMD simply performs better.

AMD is better for gaming.
Intel is better for apps.

AMD is still good for apps.
and Intel is still good for gaming.

True, but current Intels run hotter than AMDs, IIRC.
