View Full Version : Services in WinXP
Ive read that shutting off the services in windows xp can lead to added security and performance gains. Can anyone lead to me a list of the services I should turn off? Do i turn them all off?
Any help is appreciated. :p

I made a thread about this very topic not so long ago.

Check It Out (http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=907616) :) and make your own conclusion.

I could feel the heat coming from this one even before I clicked!
Anyway, here's a good thread with a link to a Microsoft document clearly detailing all of the services. If you can safely disable a service, you can do so. Just don't expect any performance gains out of it. If a service wasn't needed, chances are it's not hogging any resources either.
