I am planning to buy an external enclosure for a mobile hard drive. I have a few questions.

1. How much faster is firewire over usb2? I've seen some graphs and numbers that show them being close to 2x the speed of usb. Is that accurate? Will the extra price be justified?

2. Are there any reccommendations for external enclosures? If not, I'm goin for the cheapest deal.

Thanks in advance.

Newegg has a 2.5" enclosure for laptop hard drives that runs off of firewire/usb2. No external power pack needed. Also, I highly recommend a Seagate laptop hd to go in it.

No difference in speed in this environment (usb vs 1394)
I use this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817145751) enclosure, it works and works well and its cheap
