Power Supply or Motherboard Failure

Hey everyone, i'm running
A7N8X Deluxe Ver 2.
Amd 2200+
1 gig of ram
Raidmax RD-350w

When i was using my computer earlier, it just shut down by itself.

It does this everynow and then cause it tends to overheat on rare occasions.

I usually turn it back on after a few minutes but this time my computer did not turn on

I tried disconnecting all the wires and reconnecting and no luck. I noticed that when i press the power button, the power supply fan turns on for two seconds and then stops spinning.

I tried to turn on the computer with only connecting the powersupply to the motherboard, without any other hardware like the harddrives and cd roms. No luck with that.

My cpu fan does not turn on when I press the power button.

I also tried connecting the green wire and black wire to turn on the power supply without a motherboard. When i supplied power the fan turned on for two seconds and turned off again.

Does this confirm that i need a new power supply? Are there any other things that i should try?

I forgot to add that the green light on my mobo is on.

Try booting the motherboard outside of the chassis to rule out any grounding problems. If it still doesn't work, I'd look into testing it with a known-working power supply.
