Ya i probly worded that wrong. But hey i went to public schools.
I have a mpeg file that I would like to watch on my dvd player. Its some counter strike trick shot movies. I tried to burn the file onto a dvd but the player coudn't read it. So how can i get that movie so i can watch it on my dvd player?

well i found this program called WinAVI Video Converter. but its only a trail. seems to work. I convert a mpeg into a dvd file. so i guess i can just burn the folder onto a dvd and it will work!

The file type is acutally called a .VOB file. However, many DVD players these days can read lots of different file types. I think mine reads both MPEG and AVI (as long as they don't use a strange codec), MP3's, JPG, etc. You might check the manual to see the file types it can handle.
Also, depending on what software you use to burn, it might convert it for you on the fly. I haven't tried, but Nero lets you use all kinds of video files to create a DVD.
Just thoughts.

if you want to be able to play the DVD on your computer - PowerDVD 6 plays a huge assortment of files/extensions
Only higher end standalone dvd players will play mpegs and others.
in my personal situation pinnacle studio came free (after rebate) when i bought my camcorder. I just use that to convert to *.VOB
