there are a lot of threads about this on here already. XP 64 pro was already released and it runs games and everything fine but you do need to get 64 bit drivers for your computer.

Im using the 64 bit windows pro edition, and I just finished installing. However, it won't let me get into windows. It gets to the "Loading Windows Screen" with the x64 logo and everything, but auto reboots before it initializes windows. Can somebody help?

Its an athlon 64 2800, 512 mb ram, 120g seagate sata, dfi k8m800 miniatx motherboard.

LOTS of driver issues especaially with my Radeon 9600 Pro 256... i dont think x64 will be worth getting until it 64 bit stuff catches on.. id say give it till xmas until we see a 64 bit explosion..

This paper describes changes to INF requirements that affect device installation on non-x86-based 64-bit systems (Intel Itanium and AMD64). In this paper, "x64" refers to 64-bit architecture used in AMD64 and Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology systems.

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/driver/install/64INF_reqs.mspx

To protect users against attempting to install INF-based device driver packages on the wrong system platform and to help manufacturers avoid the associated support costs, INF syntax requirements have changed as follows for Windows Server 2003 SP1:

Driver INF files on Windows Server 2003 SP1 and later versions of Windows must decorate entries in the [Manufacturer] section and [Models] section names with .ntia64 or .ntamd64, as appropriate, to specify operating system versions on non-x86 based systems. This change does not affect INFs for x86-based systems.

those are the new INF requirement Ranma Sao made me aware of
pretty sure they are for both W2003 & XP 64Bit versions
but it sounds as if your running into problems before any additional drivers
My 64bitXP Beta loaded without any issues when I installed it

Thanks Ice Czar. But, uh, wtf did that say.... it was kinda in greek to me. Maybe it's just too early :P. Oh well, i'll try x64 later. WinXp Pro will do for now. I wouldn't use that crap if Linux intalls actually worked :(
