OK, some issues here. Cannot resolve them...some networking/connectivity things...I am at a loss....

MSN Messenger...ICQ....Miranda...Folding@Home....they will not connect to the net. They act as if I don't even have a net connecton. IE works...Firefox works....downloads are perfect....also Winap cannot access streaming sites such as shoutcast.com, I get an "error opening socket".....

I have tried playing with opening ports on the firewall...even turning it OFF completely. No dice. Changing networks settings does nothing.

Any ideas?

OK. Either operating system, Win2k3 Server X64 Edition, or regular XP64 Pro will not allow Internet Explorer 32 bit to connect...nor ICQ or MSN Messenger....all of these are 32 bit running under WOW....

Now...wtf gives :) Firefox64 and the 64bit IE work fine. Anything that uses 32 bit to connect to the net...won't.

If you use a proxy try disabling use of the proxy, sating the setting, and enabling it again. I heard of one issue that might cause proxy autodetection to fail.

Also, might check for new NIC drivers, but it's just a shot in the dark.
