does Remote desktop have a max res?
after getting a 2005fpw dell mon my desktop is 1680x1050 - just like my laptop (i8600), But when i use Remote desktop from my laptop to desktop my screen res displayed is only 1600x1050, which is what it did when i had my CRT @ 1600x1200, i thought it was just cropping the top, but now im wondering if its just reached a max res/bandwidth...
My laptop RD session is set to fullscreen, but if i back it off one it says 1600x1050 too..
is that as much res as it can handle or a seperate issue? Would suck if thats as much as i can get.. being that both screens (laptop + desktop) are the same size itd be nice to see all my desktop and not have to move icons everytime i use RD :-P
thx!

I'd be interested in the answer to this question as well. As I type, I use rdc to hit my machine at home from work (darn surfcontrol blocking out some 'nix sites I frequent because of "hacking" ). Our monitors are dual-head capable of 2560x1024 (cheap-assed dual-head matrox's) but my remote is capped like yours.
Anyone know a workaround? I hate going home to have my desktop re-arranged :D

I run RDC at 1600x1200 at home all the time. I have dual 19" monitors each running 1600x1200 on my main rig. When I connect to my server or secondary XP box, it always opens the window at 1600x1200.

Well i think 1600x1200 is the largest desktop you can use, i dont think anything larger than that will work, say 19xxX12xx would only go to 1600..
Anyone out there run @ 1920x1260 with remote desktop that works?
need one hell of a monitor, but this IS [H]ardforum ;)
I can't seem to find anything specifying it, but I'm about 99% sure the max width for a remote connection is 1600 and the max width is 1200. If I try setting things to 1920x1200 I get nice black bars on the sides...

I just tried at 1920 x 1440 and it only showed the client desktop at 1600x1200 with black bars around it as was stated above. So 1600x1200 is the max.

I wonder what bandwidth is on a RD connection at 800x600 compared to 1920x1200?

theres a few reg settings for terminal server and rdpdd among otheres, theres a defaultsettings.yresolution setting as well as x, and maxbandwidth, but nothings changed yet, but i may need to restart ts first
