Quick question about my RAM...I've got 2 512 mb sticks of PC2700, one Samsung that came from Compaq, and one Kingston Value Ram. CPU-Z says that the timings on both sticks are 2.5-3-3-8. On a Gigabye K8M800M mobo w/ A64 2800+, is this a decent overclocking setup? If not, no biggie, I'm just more curious than anything. The only thing I've ever OC'd is my vid card. Thanks.

it's not the worst, but not really all that good either. just be happy that you don't have a dell :D
side note: you need any advice on oc'ing?

ah, then for the time being, stay away from voltage.. that's really the only way you can kill something these days
first off.. there are some stickies in the oc'ing forum that are really handy.
i'll give a few pointers first though:
try to find the limit of one thing at a time. if you're going for the cpu, back down the ram a bunch, and vice versa.
try not to let the ht link speed go over 1000mhz. thus, from 200-250mhz, use a 4x ht multi, from 250-333, use 3x. i don't think you'll need to go past that though :)

Thanks for the advice. I've cruised the sticky's a few times, definitely need to hit 'em a LOT more :p
Now if there was just a sticky with a list of excuses to tell wives exactly why in the blue fuck we're doing this :D
