Ack! Think I blew my external HD!

Was trying to access my songs on my external when I accidently unplugged it, was a freak accident. I got some error message then my computer froze. Ever since every time I try to open My Computer my computer locks up and I have to close the My computer file.
Its only when I have it plugged in :( Its a 100 or 120 gig Western Digital, running on windows XP.
If I did blow it, any way I can get all my stuff off of it?

You can try to take the enclosure apart and hook the drive straight up to a PATA port on your system. This will obviouly void the warranty on a retail external kit though. You may get lucky and only the PATA to USB bridge in the enclosure got screwed. Or you may get hosed and find out that the drive has mechanical defect and only mega buck professional recovery will get it back. Good luck!

Sounds like data got corrupted....sounds like the data is screwed up now. I fear the worst.
