Hey, it might sound silly and maybe someone has been silly enough to do it already, but I figure what the hell, doesn't hurt to ask.

So I have some spare heatsinks laying around. I was wondering if anyone has done it, and if it would even be useful, but could I mount it onto the outside of the external case (I have an External Enclosure/With a normal internal Drive.) if it would help with heat transfer and dissipation. With that said, I also have an old Athlon XP Heatsink with the fan (with 1 broken fin) as well, and was wondering (yes it would look ridiculous) but if that would be even better. Now granted it would be transferring heat away from just one side, but would that work too?

So once again to summarize:
Two simple heatsinks laying around.
1 Athlon XP heatsink + Fan laying around.

Would these be even useful for dissipating heat away from the drive, thus making the enclosure cooler.

With that as well, would it even be better to get to small fans to attach to the tops of the heat sinks and would that help cooling as well.

Now, you might be saying, why the f* would I want to do this. Well its because I am always tinkering and looking for silly things to do and this is one of them. You may say this is a waste of time, but remember this is my time being wasted. So what do you think, would it even work? It would make sense that it would...
Granted, its not actually cooling the DRIVE in anyway, but at least the enclosure would be cool the touch :)
