Just saw this yesterday at the store, but i cant seem to find out much info about it (at work behind firewall). I know it has some of the patches in it, but is it also an expansion pack? I also know it has some packaged mods in it,but those are available for download for free i believe. Anyone know any more about this, ie... if you already have the original, is this a complete waste of money?

I still don't understand why this game didn't take off better then it did. I love the whole 'feel' of the game. The Music, lurking in jungles. Oh well, I'll just play on the servers I can till BF2 comes out. :D

I didn't like it because the AI is about as smart as a retarded lemming.

Dumb or deadly. If you cranked up the AI setting they will one shot kill you before you can ever see them. So yeah, I'll agree with you there.

AI? I realize that there are some people that like to play solo, but come on this is really a multiplayer game... Saying that the AI is the reason not to play this game is absurd.
I've been playing BFV on and off since it came out... because it is a solid MP game and because the jungle action really brought something new to the genre. Good times.
I'll probably move over to BF2 once it is released, since Tribes is dead...

EVen if you play online there are still going to be bots....
And when the bots consitently drive tanks over you, or off cliffs, or into the water, and crash planes all around you ... it gets frustrating.

Not necessarily
If you stick to the EA servers, they're human players only.
Anyway, great game. Just needs one more patch to fix the 'in vehicle' music only working for the first map you play and it'll be pretty much sorted.

BFV failed because it took one step forward and two steps back.
It made progress in terms of visuals, though not much.
Unfortunately, it lacked the variety that BF1942's multiple threaters provided (In WWII you had both the European and Pacific theatres that could be covered).

I really hate to dog people, but, ummm ok, then they couldnt have called it "battlefield vietnam" and since there have been no cross theater confilcts since WWII it kind of limits that type of pseudo realistic/historical genre of combat sims.
BTW, this game is great for lan parties, a dozen or so buddies all sitting around drinking, eating, talking smack and fraging each other.

Ever heard of creativity? The Battlefield series doesn't have to be based on events that actually happened. They could have based the game in a not-so-distant future.
Their choice of conflicts was poor and the game and its sales suffered because of it.
Battlefield 1942 and Desert Combat Final are far better than anything BFV has to offer.

I liked BFV for the most part, but i missed the big fleet actions of 1942

with a good server (i.e. no bots), full match and a good computer on a broadband connection - Battlefield Vietnam is a work of art.
I loved bfvn. Just hope one day there will be a better quality vn mod with jungles that you can actually hide in and not dissapear. (imagine bfvietnam with farcry graphics) Other than that I rarely play bfvn anymore just the Point of Existence mod..

AI? who the hell play BFV by them selves...Conquest multiplyer with no bots is great..I cant see calling a online multiplyer game a failure because the AI sucks locical.
I still play BFV...probely only about 25% of the time, compared to POE! POE is cool...moops the floor with DV final...
I think its cool as hell....although the maps are getting old....

Yep PoE is where it's at IMO for BFV. Which reminds me, I in interested to see the changes made with the newest patch, maybe the anti air guns will be worthwhile...

PoE has a long way to go. The jets are especially terrible...they aren't nearly as responsive as they should be.

I dunno dude, I can take a helicopter down ALOT faster with the BMP...
Actually the most fun thing to do is shoot down a chopper with a M1A1 or T90's main gun... I t is a little hard to do when they are moving but is, oh so rewarding!

I agree, but then again I am a Keyboard Pilot, which SUCKS big time for aircraft, although I think the choppers aren't too hard to pilot with the keyboard...

Seems like the BFV helos are a LOT easier to fly with the keyboard compared to BF/DC helos. I still like the "feel" of DC helos better, but I still say BFV's a helluva game. Takes too much horsepower to run smoothly at high rez, but that's just an excuse to upgrade. :D
