Im a little confused as to what this is. Is this just windows xp professional with some media enhancements?
Basically I want to know the differences between media center 2005 and xp professional.
Thanks for your help.

Well, the only difference I can tell you is that the taskbar has a new look and it has this cool menu thing for media, which is easy to use on a tv and junk like that. It you would like to buy it, you can check here.

I'd move this to the HTPC thread.

It's built on top of XP Pro SP2. It's not some add-on that can be installed to any XP Pro install. If you use the search function, specifically target the HTPC forum, you'll find this question asked thousands of times. Tons of good info there, including hardware compatibility.
