Just found this wonderful forum. Tried a search, but nothing came up. (Maybe I can't search well?). Anyway, I have a 3ware 7506-8 card. It says it's 64-bit and says it can be run in a regular PCI slot. My question is, is a 64bit slot the same as the PCI-Express slot on my mobo? If so, is it safe to put the card into the PCI-E slot? And what if I have currently overclocked my mobo which auto adjusts the PCI-E freq (Abit Duramax AA8)?

No, and it would not physically fit.

PCI-X (not PCI-E) is a 64bit PCI slot. It is normally white, and about twice the size of a PCI slot.

Your card will work fine in a normal 32bit PCI slot though.. just a little slower.

^^^ truth. Also, i wouldnt dare risk putting a controller card which manages multiple hard-drives in raid out of specification by altering the frequency, you could lose lotsa data. Buy a different board that has a lock or just dont overclock.

Yep, thanks for the replies. I only wish I had one of those 64-bit slots. Anyway, I've put it in and so far am running 6x200GB in raid5. Fun.
