I have two 74 gig raptors in a raid that i installed windows on. So that's good. But i also have a 250 gig serial ata WD drive that i hooked up to the non raid sata ports on my A8N. It recognizes it in the bios, it sees it in device manager in windows. But it's on in my computer and available for use. It's not in fdisk in dos either. What did i do wrong?
thanks
Eric
Did you initialize the disk and format it in the Disk Manager?

Which disc manager? like fdisk in dos doesn't show it at all. And it's on the 4 regular sata ports on my mobo, instead of the 4 red raid sata ports. I dunno
Right click on My Computer and select Manage from the context menu. Near the bottom of the window that comes up, you should see an item labeled Disk Management. Open that, and you should see your new disk, labeled as unallocated or something. Create a partition and follow the wizard that comes up, then format.

it surprises me that he could setup a raid with two raptors, but yet not know how to setup an additional hdd for storage.....just wow
reminds me of the most common technical support question...."My computer wont turn on...what do i do?" Is it plugged in? "Lemme check....nope...'plugs it in'....it still wont turn on" Look on the power stip to make sure thats turned on...."ok...works now..thanks"

It's a common thing, people still expect alot of things to just plug in play, things that normally don't.
