HD freezing up

I have 200gb seagate SATA HD and just yesterday it started to freeze up for bout 10secs. I turned off the comp. and plugged the end into a different SATA slot and it works fine now. This usually only happens when i format and install the updates. Just wanted to know if my HD is dying or is the SATA on the mobo not working correctly.

Something like that was happening to me back on my PATA RAID 0...turned out to be software.
