ok so i created a mirrored raid with the intel raid option at boot with two maxtors 80gbs t. then i isntalled windows xp naturally. after booting to xp, i see two hard drives (c and d) in my pc and each one has an installtion of winows folders as youd normally get with program files, my docs, etc.so i guess this is successfully mirrored raided right?

i check the bios rom, and it says both are member disks and are normal mirrored status. i then create a blank new text document in root c then i go to my d drive but i dont see a text document in my d drive? i thought my drives were mirrored? so anything i do in c drive should theorectically automatically come up in my d drive right?

but what ever i do in c drive it doesnt exactly coem up in d drive as well. maybe i have to restart the pc or something so that it knows that c and d drives have a difference and then it will copy itself over to the d drive?

You should only see one drive in "My Computer" if you see 2 something did not work right. It sounds like the mirror broke after Windows installed.

seriously? these were blank hdds, both have the same data on it after an xp pro spk2 install. thats why i gather they were succesfully mirrored. even when i deleted one member disks the intel raid said raid failure or something and i was able to rebuild it?

Seriosly I am running RAID 1 on quite a few servers at work, and they all only see 1 drive for the array.

I have never actually done it in XP, but I don't see why it would be any different.

If you have both a C and a D drive they are not in RAID 1.

Yeah, you should only see one drive.
