Hello all,

I've tried my best by searching the forums for an answer to this question but to no avail, if somehow i've still missed it, i apologize.

I've recently decided to purchase 2 x Western Digital Raptor 74GB HDD's, would it be beneficial to place these drives into a RAID-0 array? Or would i be better off just leaving them both as seperarate drives.

Many Thanks.

*EDIT*

Never mind this one folks, i've just read up in some other threads that these raptors don't half perform what the hype states, nevermind :(

Um, the 74 gig raptors do perform up to the "hype" it's the raid 0 that doesn't perform up to it.

So it's the RAID-0 that's causing these people to get these unexpectedly low results in their benchmarking programs with their raptors?

The unexpected low results are for people who bought teh 36 gig raptors, which are significantly slower than the 74.

I know my 74's post average read speeds of 60+ m/ second under no load, not sure how they'd do under heavy load, but they are designed for Heavy IO loads, not desktop usage.
