"Question
Do Western Digital Serial ATA hard drives support NCQ or TCQ?

Answer
Western Digital Serial ATA hard drives do not support NCQ or Native Command Queuing.

The only Western Digital hard drive that supports Queuing (Tag Command Queuing) is the Western Digital 74GB Raptor (WD740GD). The Western Digtial 36GB Raptor (WD360GD) and Caviar Serial ATA hard drives (WDxxxxJD or WDxxxxSD) do not support any Queuing method. TCQ and NCQ are slightly different and are not interchangeable. A hard drive that supports TCQ will not perform Queuing when attached to a controller that support NCQ (and vice versa). For a detailed explanation of TCQ please visit http://www.wdc.com/en/library/sata/2579-001076.pdf"
