View Full Version : ieexplorer eating memory even though its not open

in my task manager i see two ieexplorer proceses running. i don't have it open though. i tried to end it and it just re-opened. how do i find out what process is using ie explorer?

Sounds like spyware is running in the backround w/o an active window. Check out the sticky at the top of the forum. I'd recommend using the MS Anti-Spy software.

Try that and let us know if that stops the processes.

Yeah its definitely not right, the process for Internet Explorer is iexplore.exe, there aren't two i's. This utility should tell you exactly what all the processes are:

Use the programs in my sig to clear out spyware and viruses ;). Update before usage.

"iexplorer" is still a spyware process, then.

IE is the "iexplore" process, no closing "r".

I have noticed, though, that occasionally zombie processes stick around -- particularly if I've used IE's FTP engine. Ending the process works fine.
