I am running WinXP Pro SP2 using IE 6. When I type in my login/password and hit 'enter'; the title bar of the IE window says 'Redirecting' and just sits there forever running the cpu at 100%. In addition, I can't kill it with task manager so I have to reboot my computer to get control back. Now on another machine I can log in just fine with no problem using the same OS. The only thing different about the problem machine (besides installed software) is that I disabled some services on it to try to make it a little faster. Could this have anything to do with this?
TIA

Which services did you disable?
Have you tried turning them back on, to see if that fixes it?
Check for spyware and such with the programs in my signature, make sure to update them first.

This is still happening. I have turned on all the services I turned had turned off. I cleared cookies, files and cache.
Any other ideas?

I have ZoneAlarm, but it has worked fine before and also other computers I have tried with Zone Alarm are working fine. It just seems it is just this one machine.

and clear your browser cache... and then try it.
Did you update zonealarm. I think they made a big update recently...

Funny you mention that step... It's becoming forgotten, as people assume (like I just did) that it's been done. The other day I was helping someone at work (another tech) who was having issues with an internal website. They had done quite a bit of TSing when I mention cache, fix the issue right away. :)

More info:
I shutdown ZoneAlarm and tried to login to gmail. Same result.
The two process that are causing the 100% usage are 'iexplorer.exe' at about 36% and 'system' at about 64%.

Well apparently the problem is caused by having NAV 2004 'auto-protect' enabled. Does anyone have any ideas for a workaround? I have been looking on the web but haven't found anything yet.

dont use norton... it really sucks.
And not in the "M$ suxorz" kinda way, it really does suck...
