View Full Version : new ram be a problem?

ill be getting new ram friday and i was wondering if it pose any problems if i use my other ram while i use the new ram...i heard that if the timings are off..then i will get bluescreens...i have 2x 256 Kingston HyperX and im getting 2x 512 Kingston HyperX and its low latency series too. Will i have any problems?...

No, you won't have any problems at all. If the BIOS has the timings set to be read from the SPD (Serial Prescence Device, which tells the mobo which timings to use), you will have no problems. Generally if the timings are different, the BIOS defaults to the slower timings to ensure compatibility anyway. If you think it is too slow, you can of course manually change them yourself, but if they are both low latency RAM they should be the same latencies anyway.

that the thing they both are not low latency the 2x 256 are 2-3-2-6

and the new kingston is 2-2-2-5....will it pose any problems?

No, it shouldn't. As I said the mainboard should just default to the slower speed to ensure compatibility. If it does give you any problems, I would be surprised.
