Hello all,
I've been a long time reader, but never really had much to say. Since I've finally completed my first mod, I thought I would share. Opinions, questions, comments and the like are of course encouraged. I got this bright idea that I wanted to build a lan box that I could also store stuff in, like extra networking equipment, tools, candy, porno mags, and all the other crap that people always seem to forget to bring when they come to a lanparty. So that was my muse for this project so to speak. Here is what I came up with:

Ok, so that’s that. I think I may add a switch into the topmost drawer at some point in time to complete the "all in one" lanbox theme I was going for. The top of the case also lifts up, and there may be room for a small monitor, but nothing large enough to game on... Anyways, hope you like.

nice fittings on the cuts
looks heavier than a normal case housing the same components tho for a lan case

Dude that mod is sweet. I am that type of person who would never think or dream of doing that.. thats prolly one of the most creative mods i have ever seen... nice work bro you deserve it... ;)

thats awesome ..cept that IO shield plate.. your supposed to bend off the extra metal things over the Dual Lan ports... and bend the rest back lol

HaHa yeah, the mobo has like 9 standoffs that I had to drill and then screw into the bottom of the drawer. Long story short I got that face plate on and was like, damn... I should have taken those tabs out first! In the end I ended up cutting them out with a pair of tin snips, and it looks a lot better. Thanks for the spotting it though. As far as weight, yeah, it’s defiantly heavier than what an aluminum case holding the same components would be, but there is something to be said for the convenience of having handles on something, and drawers to stuff things into. I'm anticipating it being a smoother move than my normal case, plus a bag for the plugs and peripherals, plus a bag for all the crap I'm banking on people forgetting. We shall see though. If nothing else, its a very nice "foot resting" height. I'm considering installing a heating pad under the lid so I can always enjoy toasty feet.

Thanks to everyone for the words of encouragement. I'd say my first experience was a positive one, and I hope to do another soon.

is that a Neo2 in there????? I can't really tell, and I don't really know what one looks like, other than the fact that it looks like my Neo, cept with a SB/NB(which one is it?) fan. Is this gonna be ur regular comp?

Kool idea :D

Yup its a K8N Neo2. I've only had the board up and running for 2 days, but so far so good... hehe
And I suppose its my main computer, I've got 4 working ones in this room at the moment, plus two dead guys (in need of resurrection) and a laptop. But yeah, this is the only one that has technology from a recent past. I've turned into one of those "collectors", you know, the old ladies with like 200 cats? Only instead of cats its computers. And instead of cat pee its surge protectors.
