Hi All,

I don't know if this is the appropriate forum for this but you all seem so knowledgeable. I just bought a pair of the Seinheiser RS-120 wireless headphones and don't really like them. I know, I know, wireless sucks - but that's what I wanted (see below)

The sound of the RS-120 actually sounds pretty good to me - I just get a lot of static and hiss and what sounds like "modem handshaking" no matter how I tune it or where I place the transmitter. Probably my wireless network causing this. They are pretty comfortable though. I wore them for 2 hours last night and hardly noticed they were on. In any case, does anyone have any suggestions on different wireless headphones? I will be using them mostly to watch TV or play Xbox when my GF wants some peace and quiet.

Alternatively, I 'll consider wired headphones as well. My problem is that my receiver is about 15ft from my sitting area. I did buy a headphone extension cable for my old pair but it is the kind that coils and would tend to yank the plug out of the receiver if stretched too far. It was also very heavy so it would pull down on the headphones. That is why I wanted wireless. Are there any straight-cable type extensions that are lightweight?

I am definitely not an audiophile but I would like some nice sounding headphones. My budget is around $120. Thanks in advance!!!

Has anyone tried the RS-45s? I am wondering about the difference between those and the RS-120s. I am also thinking about maybe just getting the HD-280s and a Grado 15ft extension cord. Looks like a straight cable and lightweight.

Which Grados? My wife likes to do here aerobics while listening to her MP3s on her PC. We tried some Sony wireless headphones (don't remember the model) boy did they suck. From what I have read since it seems like wireless headphones in general are not great. Anyway, I picked her up a 10-15 foot extension with gold tips and she is happy. She is using the Grado SR 125 with a Go Vibe amp.

So what are your needs? Strictly gaming, music, movies, etc?

What was the price of those Sony's you tried?

I'm Eyeing the MDR-DS8000, but since they're not avail in Canada I can't really test them myself.

I will use it mostly for Xbox gaming or TV watching if my GF wants to study in the living room. The RS-120s sound pretty good to me. I have a pretty nice Home Theater setup with a Denon-3805 receiver and Diva Swans 6.1s so I can always revert to that if I am jonesing for sound, the headphones will be used only when I need to keep things quiet for the GF.

I keep hearing how nice the HD-280s sound and that they don't need an amp, which is a plus for me as I am trying to keep it simple. I've read that they can be uncomfortable but I haven't been able to find them anywhere near me to try out.

The grado extensions I was talking about can be found here:

MDR-RF960RK, so yes they were not top shelf but when I picked them up for the wife I didn't expect great sound but I did expect them to at least work. My experience was that no matter the placement of the base unit and no matter how close you stood next to the unit, the sound crackle and pop because of interference. Now, I do leave on hill in a major city so it could be partially due to RF interference but for it not work in the same room just a a foot or two away is silly.

I would make sure the store has good return policy in case you experience what I did. On the other hand those are the only 5.1 headphones I have interested in for gaming. You'll have to make sure to post your impressions.
