pearpc.sf.net
as close as you're going to get
btw with only a little work you can make freebsd or linux act/look EXTREMELY closely to mac os x

well i know how to make it look like OS x, with docs and all this kind of stuff, but i want all the features of it... anandtech made me want it so badly... so there is no hack for it or something like that?
edit:
WOW, whats that? what does it do exactly, i read some of it, still not quite sure what its supposed to be... it is basically running OSX on windows??

I dunno about losing respect, but if you understood more about computer architecture, you'd know OSX unfortunately won't run on x86 hardware. Apple has a working version they demo at some Mac only trade shows....but they have no plans to release it.

...CherryOS...
this program is a rip off of pearpc. use pearpc to emulate mac, or skin your shell to make it look like osx, that is the only way.

Yea, last I heard the developer basically decompiled pearPC and copy/pasted the code, then said "I dub thee: CherryOS!".
At least, thats what my memory tells me. Years of working tech support have thoroughly swiss-cheesed that part of my brain....

well i knew that MAC OS X only works with apple architecture, this is why i opened this thread. Because i thought of emulators or any other sorts of "hacks" or whatevvr you might call it. So how does this whole emulating thing work in the first place... I have never emulated anything and i really would like to learn it...
basically, i run the emulator and then install OS X on a partition that i create ( I take it its not suing any windows file system lol)

pearpc is awesome...the only pain is having to make ISO's of the panther cd's because pearpc for win32 can't read directly from the CDROM drive...

Install StyleXP 2.0... apply the panther theme, move your taskbar to the top.
Install ObjectDesktop's ObjectDock to imitate OSX's task launcher
Move all desktop icons to the right.
All the sexy look of OSX with the compatibility of WindowsXP

some of the look will be there, but none of the better user interface will be :(
OSX is much better than windows besides the appearance...

Well there is that rumored $499 headless Apple PC that is supposably coming out soon. Not a bad deal if you are looking for a general computer. Just add a little KVM switch action and you get best of both worlds (or add a second monitor) :P
