Hello all:
I am trying to setup my new system with an ASUS A8N-SLI board and I want to RAID-0 my two raptors. However, when I am trying to install WinXP I load the nVidia drivers from the disk for RAID but when it gets to the Setup is Starting Windows portion it restarts itself. I have narrowed this issue down to the RAID since if I do not load the drivers then the setup continues like it should.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Do you have the drives connected to the correct SATA mobo plugs?

I believe so. According to the manual the black ones are the nvidia ones and that is where the Raptors are attached.

Did you make sure to enable the RAID option for that specific chipset within the BIOS? There should be distinct options to enable RAID on the NF chipset as well as on the 3rd party chipset if that board has one (SiliconImage?). Sounds like you are trying to use the NF chipset controllers, so make sure you've got the one for those controllers specifically set to RAID enabled.

What MonkyBoy said, plus in your boot screen you will see some command to enter for “boot options”. You will have to select “RAID”, add the two drives and then specify which “RAID” you want to use. Follow whatever instructions are in that set up screen, you might even have to read the manual; those screens vary from board to board.

I am having a huge problem as well with Raid on my A8N-SLI deluxe.
I have 2 western digital raptors and I have them connected to serial ATA raid. When installing XP I press f6 and use the silicon image raid driver. Windows installs fine and finds the raid array but on reboot it crashes. I can get into safe mode and when I go under device manager I install the raid driver and then it won't even let me get into safe mode. I have no idea what I am doing wrong, everything in BIOS is configured corectly it's definitely a driver issue but what other driver could I possibly use?
I have tried installing windows 16 times now, I am frustrated beyond belief, I don't want to give up on raid though.
