I just got my new mobo/proc/ram/vid card and everything else installed. I reformatted my 20 GB hard drive and installed a fresh copy of XP on it. I want to move all my MP3s, and other stuff out of My Documents folder on the old one but when i go to click "Ryan" of the Documents and Settings folder it says access is denied. We're talking about over 10GB's I'm temporarily moving over to the 20, then reformatting the 80 then moving them back over. What software can I use or what exactly can I do in Command Prompt.

You should log on as administrator and take ownership of the files. Another way you can do it is move the whole partition over to the 20 gig drive and reinstall XP over it. It might come up with just a repair install with all of your settings. Most drives come with a partition copy program, but with most of them you have to reset the pagefile size for all drives to the same amount or you have too small a page file.

So, since my XP on the one with all my music/videos/everything is corrupted (i guess, it will not boot and just restarts over and over) I re-install it over there then go in from there. Because logging in as administrator on this one is not working. Also in the command prompt can I just move the whole folder to here?

Screw it....ye ole Format is coming in. Goodbye 1500+ MP3's that i accumulated on 56k over a years+ time. Goodbye 5GB's of Street Racing Vids. I'm going for the format now, starting over. I needed to anyways.

Have you at least tried to install over the the old install, or run a repair? I hate to lose files if I can help it. You might be able to accesss thedocuments and settings folder as administrator.

Yes I tried a repair and new install and it still didnt work. So I reformatted it already. But a new problem. Even though I only have one copy of windows on here, it still thinks the other 2 are on the 80GB though it is completly empty. How do I remove the entries so it knows there is only one OS on it?

ok let me guess, while creating you last user account, you made your documetns private yes?

Knew it had the same problem, kind of solved it but not really... your solution is a temporry install of linux, becuase thats the only thing that will give you access to it... All this admin stuff under windows, it plain wont work, use linux copy the files, and then copy them back...

thats how you'd do it

good luck
