and i didn't set up any special partitions !!!
is it a jumper problem or what ?
I thought the jumper setting it didn't matter on a sata
Here's what i got
Abit IC7-G MAX 2
P4 3.0E 800mhz 1mb
2x512/3200 corsair xms

Sounds like you don't have the WinXP service packs installed yet.

i believe that is a jumper configuration problem, or having a feature in your bios disabled or something.
i would first try all the other jumper settings, there are only 4 possiably ways to do it, so just try all of them

does the jumper setting change the size on a sata HD ?

If you install windows XP without the service pack it will make a 137GB partition. Now that you have the service pack and it can recognize more than 137GB, you have to use a program, such as partition magic to change the size of the partition to the size of the hard drive.

No, just make sure you're resizing the existing partition. Sorry, I don't remember the exact procedure using partition magic. But this is what I did to overcome this problem and it worked fine.

The size of your hard drive. Resize the partition to as big as it can be.
