So I got the rest of my computer parts, aside from the PSU and VIdeo Card in today. Rather than waiting for some things on ebay to sell so I can afford them, I yanked them out of my old computer just so I could play around a bit.

Anyway, it all works great... Untill I try to install windows and it dosn't see my hard drive(Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA). I tried hitting F6 to install the drivers off the mobo cd when the setup first comes up but nothing happens. Since this is my first time dealing with a SATA hard drive, I have no idea what to do.

Specs:
Asus K8V SE Deluxe
Athlon 64 3000+
Corsair CMX512-4000
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 120gb SATA

Any help would be greatley appreciated.

copy the drivers to a floppy. As far as I can remember, F6 looks for the floppy, not a CD.

Yes. For the F6 thing to work you need the driver on a floppy.

Damn. I don't think I have any old floppy drives laying around.

You said you pressed F6 and nothing happened? You should have at least gotten to a stage that asks for the SATA/RAID drivers to be used. Check to make sure that the SATA is enabled on your mobo (either via jumpers or in the BIOS) and you will need the proper drivers at the F6 stage.

i think i had this same problem a while ago and i'm not entirely sure how i did it...exactly....but i do know that i had my sata drive hooked up alone, and i fiddled around with the bios settings...i'm not sure if you have to install any drivers at all. just fiddle around with the bios settings, making sure that the drive is

the only other option i can think of, is to set up a raid array...me thinks and install the OS on an IDE drive...but that can be a lil tricky...

when i get back to my own computer i'll be able to give you more info...
