HD led and SATA drives

My computer now have only SATA HDD (36 GB Raptor and 120 GB Caviar SE) and since I changed drives with SATA ones, the HDD led doesn't blink anymore. Is that normal or is there something I must do to reenable it ? Check my sig for the current computer setup.

if its a promise, highpoint or some 3rd party sata controller on the mobo, this is normal.

My intel board using the chipsets sata flashes the led properly.

i have an asus mobo with a built in sata raid controller and the hdd led's dont blink for the raid drives, only devices on IDE will blink
