My brother's PC had a crapload of spyware on it so I ran Spybot and Ad-Aware. I ran Spybot then Ad-Aware. Ad-Aware found so much more stuff than Spybot did. After I ran Spybot, I find out that the system can't get on the network - it has a 169.254 IP address and ipconfig /renew does not work. Can someone help me? I heard something about some adware doing this a while back. It is so disgusting that a company would make it so it SCREWS UP the system when their software is removed. (He is running Windows XP Home btw)

dont blame ad-aware for breaking it...blame the authors of the spyware

Winnar!!!
The spyware makers inserted themselves into the stack. When it was removed it broke the chain, and screwed up your networking.
