All, I have a question I have been trying to figure out how I can set the default wall paper for all the users that log on to a WINXP pro system. I have done some reading and I believe that the setting I want is located in Hkey_Users\.Default\Control Panel\Desktop . I have tried setting the location of the wallpaper that I want but it does no good. I log on with a regular users acount and it is just the plain XP screen. If anyone has a suggestion I would appreciate it.

1) create a new user
2) login
3) set the wallpaper (from a folder that all can access - eg c:\windows\web\..)
4) log off
5) log in as ADMIN
6) goto c:\documents & settings
7) rename the "Default User" folder to "Default User-Orig"
8) rename the newly created user's folder to "Default User"
9) Delete that newly created user
10) make lots-o-new users and marvel at the default background
I used this technique to lock down a "new user". Create a user, give it ADMIN rights. Edit reg to lock it down (care of www.regedit.com) set teh user back to normal access. Then copy the user folder to "Default User"

cheap hack
convert your pic to BMP
rename it "Bliss.bmp"
put it in c:/windows/web/wallpaper overwiting the old one.

I believe there is a way to rename the user registry from ntuser.dat to ntuser.pem (don't rember the extension) and it will make the changes permant So even if they do have the ability change it, it will not take.I'd search about this before you do it as I don't remeber the extension.
