Hi

iv just Fdisk my hard drive but now I can’t find it in Dos to format it. iv tried typing format C: but I get the message invalid media type reading drive C. all im trying to do is install Windows XP onto the drive but cant get to format the drive or even read it. also i dont even think its Fat32 yet or NTSC because i cant do anything with it so maybe thats why its not reading the disk in Dos?

any help would be great

Thanks

Yuo went into delete non-DOS partition, right?

Chances are, the reason why it can't read it is because it is NTFS.

Sheesh, A Little more information Next time would be useful. Infact Any information would be usefull.

Ok Specifics problem. I'm Guessing your problem here you've deleted your boot partition on your primary ATA or SATA disk's partition and you want to re-install windows.

I'll Assume your not uptodate with the way Win-XP installs. You don't need to format your disk to install XP just boot into the XP setup and follow the insructions and create a partition. It will ask you if you want to format it.

P.S If your wanting to Format it in FAT-32 (Not reccomended for large drives) then open Fdisk and create a partiton then reboot then you can format the disk.

FYI for the future. There is very little reason to Destroy a partition a format will for just aswell unless your planning on creating multiple partitions on the same disk.
