Over the last couple of days I've massaged out most of the problems with the system in my sig and I've installed Windows XP Pro. The thing is that having problems with the network connection.

My computer is located several rooms away from the (wireless) router so I just use a D-Link wireless Ethernet card for my net connection. After installing the D-Link's drivers I have three connections listed under Network Connections: D-Link Wireless, the onboard LAN, and the 1394. They are all listed under the heading "LAN or High-Speed Internet."

On my old system I simply disabled the two onboard connections, enabled the wireless connection, and I was good to go. Now when I do that a new category pops up titled "Internet Gateway," and it has a single connection under it called Internet Connection.

What is this and where did it come from? I can't enable it, I can't delete it, and I don't know what to do with it. When I run the command 'ipconfig' in a command prompt everything looks good except for "Connection-specific DNS suffix" which is blank.

Does anyone have any idea why I'm unable to get a network connection? Thanks!

I know it's pretty n00b of me and I really should be able to figure this out but I'm completely stumped. Does anyone have any suggestions?

OK, I have a 75 foot ethernet cable just sitting around and I ran it to my PC to try the onboard LAN conenction. I'm seeing basically the same problem as before.

It looks now like the problem isn't with my wireless card. I can't really understand why I'm having a problem. It looks as if I can't get out from behind my router but I honestly don't understand why that would be. The computer I'm typing this from is behind the same router that I'm using and it has no problems whatsoever.

Does anyone have any idea what might be going on?
