I am moving from my 4-disk 600Gb RAID5 on a promise card to a 6-disk 1Tb RAID5 on a raidcore card.

I have over 400Gb in MP3s and 80Gb in video. I need a way to take the data off the raid so I can add the two drives, swap the card, and build the new array.

Anyone recommend a fast 500Gb storage medium I can use for like 2 days?

if you have an old system lying around you could put the new array into that, put a minimal OS install on it, then use the NIC to transfer the files from the old system to the new system. Once all the data is transferred pull the new array out and drop it into the new system. Just use a crossover cable from one box to the other. It would be essentially free(assuming you have a spare system lying around). It would take a couple of days to transfer that much data though, but I can't think of another way to store that much data temporarily, except of course an external hard drive. But then you have to buy the external drives, which wouldn't be cheap.

Raidcore is super sweet like that!

I was able to make a 4-disk raid 5 and keep my data on the remaining two.

Then I copied the data off and transformed it to a 6-disk raid5. All in under a DAY!
