I had a customer who was getting blue screen errors booting into XP. They were registry errors. Safe mode, last known good config, etc.. all didn't work. I tried booting to the CD and running Repair Console, it asked which installation I wish to repair, I type 1. It comes on the screen but nothing happens. I tried hitting every other key. When I hit enter, it exits the Repair Console.

After this, I took the hard drive out, and backed up all the customer's data on another computer.

I put the hard drive back in the original computer, booted to the XP cd and tried to do a reinstall. It loads all the drivers, I agree to the license and then it blue screens to a registry error.

So I had to take the drive out again, pop it in a 2nd machine and format it there, then move it back to the original and I was finally able to reinstall windows.

Everything works fine now, but was there something I should of done that would have been easier and saved me time?
