I would like to make a ghost image of my hard drive, and put it on a newer, much bigger drive so I can have more space. I will be using Norton Ghost to do this. Will this cause any problems with XP Home (SP1)?

i've done this from a 30 gig hard drive to a 40 gig hard drive. And it worked perfectically. I don't think you will have any issues.

Sysprep first. Or if you don't want to do that here's the gotchas:
If you leave the old disk in the system, you will need to delete the MountedDevices key, or windows will try to map your old drive as C and your new drive as SomeOtherDriveLetter, and you won't boot.

If you make a true clone you should be fine with just swapping the drives.. I've done it many times.

My current hard drive has 4 partitions on it. The new one will only have 2. One for back up files etc... and one for the OS and programs.

I plan on just cloning the OS partition since that has all my programs and such on it. So I'll be lossing 2 partitions when I clone. I don't really have anything in the other 2 partitions since they are so small. I need to format that drive after.
