I have tried the desktop cleaner but it only works on shortcuts
My lovely wife copied all my pictures on to the desktop and I have already deleted over 300 by hand but I know there must be an easier way there must be a 1000 more on there.

It does somehting weird every once in a while too it copies it again to the desktop even though I dont ask it to. If I drag it to the recycling bin it doesnt do it but if I use ctrl and start selecting them it does

I need your help cleaning it up or if you know of a prog that does it for me or a way to hit select all Its driving me nuts

You're clearing them off desktop by hand?
You are a patient man.
can you delete them by going to the desktop path?
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop\

You can just make a big box and fit as many as you can in that box then delete them all. Thats the only way that i know of to get rid of a mass amount at a time.

Apply ready-only permission on your desktop :D

Open the C:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop folder, right click, go to properties, find the "Security" tab, and set the permissions accordingly.

This assumes that you have disabled Simple File Sharing.

Why not create seprate accounts for you and her? 2000/XP/2003 allow us to partition the desktop experience between users, and can let everyone have their space. If you are concerned with her lack of safety in computing practices, then the need to give her a limited account is greater.
