WinXP doesn't recognize external HD- Need paper off it for class tomorrow..Help!

Hey. My comp wont recognize my external hd. My other computer has WinXP too, and I plugged it in and it picked it up fine, but when I plug it in to the computer I'm on now I get nothing. I already made sure the USB device works. Any ideas? I really need to get a paper off th is HD that is due at school tomorrow. I also already tried add hardware from control pannel.

The enclosure did come w/ a cd, but i don't think i would need to install that since i have winxp. i have the same winxp on my other comp. and it worked right.

i think i may have something not running that checks for plug in play or something? but it found my mouse when i changed the usb port.

just access it on the one that works now, toss it on cd, or network transfer it. Worry about it later once you have the paper.

i got my paper b/c i had it saved on my comp. at home and my mom sent it to me. but i'd still like to know how to get it to detect it.

have you tried to make sure the usb port is working? If you have anything else usb try it in the same port.

my computer RTclick manage
go to disk management
see if its showing up as a dynamic disk offline
reactivate
get your paper

Eh, in that case, check the CD that came with the HD...
