How do you remove the grill from the subwoofer on the Z680s? My son put a toy in the port and i want to get it out. I've try everything short of breaking it but it won't budge at all.

you could try this. try tipping the sub in the direction of the port and see if you can get it to fall out. just a though, as i dunot think that its possible to get the grill off. good luck ^_^

Well if you can't tip it out as suggested above then you will have to take the whole thing apart. The sub grill is screwed on from the inside (it is on my Z-640s and Z-2200s) so you might as well just remove the back and take the unit apart.

well, unfortunatly, the port design isn't normal, it's a U shape, I can fit my hand in, but of course, i can't get into the enclosure. I took the amp off the back in hopes of going in through there but there is no way in there either as the amp is jsut attached to the box, not covering the inside. So, the only way in is through the speaker itself. I can see the screws that hold the woofer in, they arn't screwed in from the inside. I just have to get the damn grill off to get to them and this bitch is on there like a mofo. i'm seriously going to cut into it.

Hey Im having a simular problem, this week my sub cover started rattling I can see a we bit of spacing that inst suppose to be there where the grill is.

How did you remove the grill exactly?
Tilting and rotating it how?
By pressing on it and rotating the cover in what direction?

Its weird the supporting screws are inside the grill it self maybee bolts are holding them in place, hopefully.

Any detailed steps would be very helpfull!
Thnx :)

easy, got mines off in less than 2 minutes...need a small flat-head screwdriver...pry the edges of the cover, it'll pop right out when you do it to all sides.

Ya do what he said. I'm pretty sure it's just glued in four spots.

This is funny that this thread is on here, I just dropped a screw into the port of my HTD level 3 surrounds. The port goes in really deep and it will be impossible to simply get it to fall out, so now I have to take the woofer out :(

kids do funny things. my stepsister sprayed pledge orange oil all over the woofers on 5 of my speakers :( No matter how much water i used, they are still discolored. I guess i'll be spending much of the next few days scrubbing it off

bjorn, i would NOT have been happy if that happened to me... :(

when i bought my matrix's, there was a sound of something moving around inside the cabinet... we (the guy i bought them from and i) removed the terminal plate to peek inside... his kid had stuck a hot wheel car in there through the port... :)
