Hey all,
just wanted to post pics of my current project im working on , nothing ultra fancy ...yet but im pretty proud of what i have done so far since its my second case.
Heres the pics in order ill explain what i did after :)

http://img89.exs.cx/img89/9825/doorwindow5.th.jpg (http://img89.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img89&image=doorwindow5.jpg)
http://img89.exs.cx/img89/5637/frontetching.th.jpg (http://img89.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img89&image=frontetching.jpg)
http://img89.exs.cx/img89/9654/sidewindow1.th.jpg (http://img89.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img89&image=sidewindow1.jpg)
http://img89.exs.cx/img89/5151/sidewindow2.th.jpg (http://img89.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img89&image=sidewindow2.jpg)
http://img89.exs.cx/img89/7651/sidewindow3.th.jpg (http://img89.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img89&image=sidewindow3.jpg)
http://img89.exs.cx/img89/8863/windowetch1.th.jpg (http://img89.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img89&image=windowetch1.jpg)
http://img89.exs.cx/img89/4982/windowetch2.th.jpg (http://img89.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img89&image=windowetch2.jpg)

Basically thats from start to current heres what i did in order:
1.Cut out the front lower panel to increase airflow and to maki it look less plain..thats where i was gonna stop...but we know how that goes..lol

2.Decided to add some color to the mix and am quite fond of this particular green (Tamiya Candy Lime Pearl ) so i removed the front pieces and painted them simple enough.

3. Then i decided to continue the green/black theme onto the drives so i pulled the plates off, and painted them ( mind you my Lite-On CD-RW was 2 hrs old at this point...lol)

4. From the suggestion of a fellow modder we decided the door needed a window (this was orginally going to have a vent in it for the front intake fan i modded into the top bays to feed fresh air to the PSU but i decided against that , i have other plans)

5.After many days of trying for the love of anything to get a theme going i finally decided that what i needed to make this case appealing to me is women , and in particular i chose Abby from Danger Girl...i dont know why i just did .

6. Every case needs a side panel window , why make a exception? anywho at first the cut was good then i decided i wanted to see more and walla.

7. and finally (for now till my other gear arrives) here comes Abby sliding across my window to fend of god knows what from getting in there...lol

Anywho future plans include :
Green and purple UV sleeving kit for the PSU and fans, top window with more Abby and a blowhole , front window lighting with UV leds and UV paint here and there (yes the etchings will be getting this treatment) , custom cover plates for the drivebay side and PSU mods (window and etching there as well), custom 120 mm fangrills (with new fans )

thats it for now , sorry for the long post and horrid thumbnails , just click to see bigger views.

Please leave feedback/suggestions and if youve seen my first case ( Project Horus) say so :)

thanks

My compliments!! That is amazing work. I also modded a Sonata, and its very interesting seeing how the same case ends up looking completely different depending on what's done to it.

My only suggestion is to buy some files and straighten the edges of your front cuts. The PSU sleeving will look great as well, but I dunno about the purple. But hey its your case mod and it looks awesome so far, so mod on! :D

thanks R@Mo,

By the by i really like the Pirat Sonata ya did , my buddie does also he's digs pirate stuff so that was up his ally !
I agree on how no 2 cases look the same as soon as a different hand touches them.

Ok on to the critque :)
I agree with the front door comment since it was a fast job i messed up ther edges a bit , but i will remedy that:)
The purple will be in short use here and there , i think it will accent the green better than blue does , but i may be wrong..i could always use black to keep with the theme Oo

Anywho i got some lime green flag tape today (2.35) for 50 Feet ) im gonna play around with this and see how i can wrap the wires, also anyone know what kind of clear tubing people use when they slide it over the cables?

How did you make the etch's come out so sweet looking?

I love that theme, bright colors and women go hand-in-hand.

the front cuts were dremel, the side window was jigsaw, etching all done with one dremelbit :)

I suggest going with some green sleeving instead of the flag tape or the clear tubing but its up to you. Might give you a unique look though if you manage to do it cleanly.

i agree the sleeving looks alot better , the flaggin tape will have its purpose tho...lol
I painted the interior flat black and put her all back together , i still have alot to do, like touch ups and such and still trying to guess why a 18" long case has 40 ft PSU wires....LOL

Perhaps you can change the blue LED's in the front to green? I've never seen that done to a Sonata until now...

http://img17.exs.cx/img17/7633/frontvent1.th.jpg (http://img17.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img17&image=frontvent1.jpg)

Thats a hub from a weed wacker im gonna clean my cross up a bit then paint the white aera black and the vent green or i may leave the grill balck and do geeen accent or get UV green paint or something...lol not 100% decided yet any ideas are welcome :)

R@Mo
09-07-2004, 10:29 PM
All I want to know is how you came up with the idea of using a weed whacker hub in your mod?

My suggestion is to ditch the hub, and instead change the grill for a different metal mesh with slightly larger holes, then paint the mesh black and light it from behind (LED fan?).

As always, its your case, so do what you think looks best. :)

AH, Soyo P4X400, I had one and it sucked more than a PC Chips board I had before. Nice work though, looking good.

The blue light was used just as a test :)
