Hey how is everyone doing? I am new here. So, Hello. :)

Well, this is the worklog of a project I am currently working on. As you can tell from the title it is going to be VERY satanic and dark in theme.

This is what it looked like before I started. You can also see the top of the case in this pic. It has a custom cut 120mm fan hole and you can also see where the handles have been cut out.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/Bezelandtop.bmp

This is what it looks like in it's current state. There is still alot of work to be done to it. What is left of the Antec grill at the top will be gone this weekend and replaced by a plastic human skull. The skull wil also be molded into the bezel.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/TurbinePrimer2.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/TurbinePrimer1.jpg

Here you can see that I have added a turbine shaft. It will have a fan installed into it.

And please keep in mind that it is still very early on in this project and things will change and of course as I progress they will certainly look better than they do right now.

This is a pic of the top after primer was applied it is just waitng to be painted.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/Top.bmp

This is a pic of when I was making sure the tubine was going to fit right before I glued it in.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/BeforeTurbine.bmp

These are some pics that are from the very beginning when I first started working on the front of the case.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/FrontBezel.bmp

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/Frontwithnewpiece.bmp

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/Turbineearly.bmp

These are of the right side panel of the case. These cuts are all going to backed by Modders Mesh. I am currently in the process of cutting out all 4 of the tribal designs. Man it takes a long time to do it.

Here is the case before I drew on the tribals.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/Rightside.bmp

Here is the tribal layout.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/Triballayout.bmp

Here is one of the cut tribals. This has not been filed yet, so I know it looks jagged.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/Tribalcut.bmp

This pic is of the chassis with the tubine hole cut into it. The plan is to have the chassis powder coated a very dark purple color.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/Turbinecase.bmp

The left side of the case actually had an accident with my car and was mangled beyond repair. I was able to get another side, and it is going to have a really kickass pentagram waterjetted into the side. I was going to dremel the pentagram but I decided it would not look as good as I wanted it to, and would take forever.

I will keep you up to date as soon as I get more done. As soon as I finish a piece I will post it.

Any advice you guys can give will be greatly appreciated.

This is the front with the skull installed and semi finished. You may notice the body filler. LOL

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/Skullfront2.jpg

Sorry for the crappy pics. I took them at night and they came out really bad. I will take some more tomorrow in the daylight. As you can see I have kind of a mock up of how the fan will sit in the front intake.

Here is a pic of one of the fan blades after its second coat of paint. Again I will take some better pics of this as well.

Great job so far. Wish I had the patience/courage to do that kind of work, but I'm getting there, ever so slowly =). Really like the paintjob on the fanblades too, might have to do that to my proc fan, black is so plain :p.

at least its not one of those threads that has the guy going like, i plan to do the following blah blah blah, and nothing ever happens

looks nice btw... if i were you, i'd ask bonzanego and see what kinda "skull-themed" fan grills he can make for you

I was going to see what kind of pentagram grills I could get from him. The new metal grills he is working on look like something I would like use on this project. So I may hit him up to see what he can do for me.

OK, I got some painting done over the weekend. The bummer is, the paint can decided to explode all over what I was painting. Here are some pics of the top of the case after being exploded on and sanded. This is the second of 4 coats of paint.

If you look closely you can see 3 big drops of paint that have been sanded down and hopefully will go away after the next coat.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/Top2ndCoat2.jpg

In these two I used a beer can to try and get it to reflect off of the paint.

how did u take the fan blade off the fan?

Dante

how did u take the fan blade off the fan?

If you cut off the center part of the label on the center of the fan blades(the hub) you will see the fan shaft. There is a tiny retaining ring that holds it in place just carefully remove the retaining ring and it will slide right out.

Dont lose it, the ring on 30 mm fans ive messed with are small as hell. Case is looking good.

Is it just me or are the rings really hard to get back on? Is there a simpler method that just tweezers?

CrimandEvil
09-07-2004, 11:17 AM
I had a hard time getting the ring back in on my 92mm fan, MAKE SURE NOT TO LOSS IT! I almost did. lol

there is a tool you can use to put them back on...sort of like reverse pliers because when you squeze the handle it opens the tool instead of closing it

Alrighty! I found some time to make a little progress on the project.

Here is the skull, finally done. Except for the top of it's head. I still haven't decided what to do on top of the head. Right now my thoughts are to make it a 4 channel rheobus.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/CompletedSkull3.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/Completedskull2.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/Completedskull.jpg

Since I was painting the top, I decided to go ahead and paint the top part of the front bezel. I was able to get 2 coats on to it before I ran out of paint. But this is what it looks like at the moment. I am going to sand it tomorrow so, sorry for the ugliness.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/Topoffront2coats.jpg

I finished the 5th coat on the top of the case and I think I am going to stop there. Tomorrow this will be sanded as well, and then shined. It took forever to take out all the marks on it that were left by the paint can exploding on it. But it came out alright in the end.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/Casetop1.jpg

And here is the top with it's handles in for a test fit.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v373/Dizzante/Unholy/Tophandles1.jpg

Hopefully I will have more pics for you tomorrow of something that is actually done :)

Looks great so far!..I'm a huge fan of skulls/skeletons ...

a little suggestion might be to use some bondo to reshape and squint those eye sockets slightly--more of an evil look and less wide and "surprised" Awesome job--love it ;)

Superb blending on the skull. I like Crim's idea about squinting the eye sockets, although it looks so good now I'd be afraid of messing it up. Another suggestion, I bet the skull would look even more evil with some Red LED lighting in the eyes. Heh, I wondor how hard it would be to put vandal switches inside the eye sockets?

I do agree with Crimson. I need to do something with the eyes. I am going to mess with a few things this week to see how they work out and whether or not they look good. If I screw something up, there is always my trusty sander and more Bondo. :D

I was going to do the Vandal idea in the eyes, but I scrapped it. The skull is too thick and they wouldn't look right.

Didn't see it mentioned....but you MUST cut out the eyes in the skull. That sh#t if #$#%ing [H]ardcore. If you cut the eyes out, you could afix a light (tucked away not seen) that would glow out the eyes, nose and mouth. Regardless of what you do. Thats freaking sick.

lol yes its the same motion as closeline clips, there called snap ring pliars and you can get them anywhere that sells decent tools... i got an awsome micro set on ebay for like 5 bucks, and its not even overly shitty.

i love the look your going for... i was playing around with red LEDs you put an idea in my head... theres this semi transparent packing type foam that comes in sheets... ill get a pic ASAP, but if you put 1 or 2 LEDs behind it it will glow even if painted lightly. it also does a great job of difusing the light so it doesnt look like a skull with an LED in the eye. if you cut a small hole in the back of the eye socket you could thread the wires in and use bondo to mold the foam into the same piece as the rest of the socket so it didnt look too wierd.

just a thought

No, the front will be black also and the skull is being custom airbrushed with some effects to enhance it's look.
