View Full Version : Why can I not download SP2?
I go to windows updates and I cannot find it anywhere in the list on the right side. I even have windows update turned on and the only thing I can get is 2 security updates that are both under 4mb's. So where can I actually download this pos? and why is it so hard to find.

I want to do this now and I can't send for a new disc since I am moving my comp to Canada with me here in a couple days. I don't know my dorm room until I get there so no point in mailing it. Where can I just download the bloody thing?

Is anyone else surprised by how many people are having trouble finding SP2? I'm not trying to start something, but maybe some people only have one PC, that they don't rebuild often....I just assumed most power users went right for the network install, considering it handles all versions of XP, and it can be burned to CD for multiple uses.
well I streamlined sp1 and now I am going to have to do it again with sp2. I wouldn't have had a problem with the network version I just wanted to get the winupdate one so I could just call and tell my Dad where to get it. It shouldn't be this friggin hard to download a service pack. I don't know why it just doesn't show up as something to download in windows update.

I have no problem finding it at all. But in order to update, what I had to do was install a certain update and then it offered me SP2. It was probably some SP2 hotfix's. But your right. If you look on the Microsoft home page, they BS about it a lot but don't give you the download link.

It depends what part of the MSFT website you look at - if you go to Technet, it's very simple to find the download link to the network install. I'm kind of hazy on the userland portion of the MSFT website, as I've never been there :p
