I have Windows XP Home Sp2 and I can't run "ipconfig" on prompt for some reason it opens up the dos window and it closes automatically in less than a second...and doesn't run....this is not a problem with sp2 because i had the same problem with sp1 even after a fresh install of xp and formatted hardrive i still could not run ipconfig anyone know why this is? I did turn off many "xp services" not many but some.... i got from blackviper.com website...could it be that one of the services i disabled won't let me run ipconfig? which one is it? or is it something eles?

Yea, its a command prompt window, and its going to close automatically after running :).
Do a start -> run -> type in 'cmd' without the "s and THEN type "ipconfig" at the command prompt.

Are you running this from the Run Window.. or from the Command Prompt?
Ed. - Too late... Direwolf beat me too it. Make sure you're in the Command Prompt before you enter that command, or all you'll see is the quick flash of a command prompt window.

I'd bet on 98 you were using the graphical IP config. Had you run another dos application that posted the results to the screen, like dir, it would have done the same thing.
