I'm tired of the software for my laptops taking about 12mb just to turn my right alt key into my windows key.
anyone have a registry tweak that'll do this (preferably w/o a memory hit)?

There is a program included with the Win2k Resource Kit from Microsoft called RemapKey.
It works on all NT OSes. It edits the registry entires that actually control key assignments. These keys are difficult to edit manualy since you have to know the hex/scan codes for all the keys :)
I have a copy of the program but nowhere to host it. If you can PM me your email addy I can email it to you!
P.S. if you look for it on the internet you will find alot of programs called remapkey. The one included with the Res Kit is made by "Hiro Software Factory" and is version .99f It should be 345KB in size with a square yellow icon.
Personally I use it to remap the right cntrl key on my IBM Model M KB to a Windows key. Works just fine for this purpose.

Looks like Windows 2003's Resource Kit has it as well (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9d467a69-57ff-4ae7-96ee-b18c4790cffd&displaylang=en).
Thanks for the info! this'll help me out in more than 1 way! (Remap Keys, + have the resource kit for Server 2003)
