Sounds fishy, wants me to ship first? Is this customary?

Normally when I sell stuff, I am used to getting paid before shipping the item. A guy I'm dealing with wants me to ship two sticks of ram before he pays because he is afraid he will be trolled. I have never seen his name on the forums and he only has 3 positive heats. Should I explain to him that if he pays me and I dont deliver, he can always recall his payment but if I ship and he doesnt pay I'm basicall out of two sticks of ram?

What should I do? He is also low-balling me some and I dont trust him very much.

You dont ahve to sell it to him. THe only way your supposed to ship first isif he has like more heat then you do by a lot. Tell him youll give hima tracking number. If he refues hes probably trying to cheat you..

thing is I can see it both ways myself.

When I'm buyer I don't like to send out my money and get ripped off, like I did on here from an ass that took $30 through paypal, didn't refund me, paypal didn't refund me, and I was out $30 and never trusting [H] sellers again.

When I'm a seller I want the money before I send out the product.

I have 5 positives, but I dont sell very much of my stuff and I buy nearly everything on ebay. I'm just starting to sell a lot of stuff because I'm in school and need money and space.

paypal is $hit when it comes to return of money. I got ripped off $30 through their service, I disputed it, won the case, but they told me no money will be sent to you.

this kid sounds like an idiot, just don't send it to him, and post that it's still for sale and look for someone that is a hell of a lot more credible IMHO

I wouldn't ship first no matter what, I don't care how much more heatware he/she has than me. You don't get to walk out of your local computer shop with something without handing over cash, do you?

Man, Im feel so offended if someone asks me to ship first. I just want to blurt out "What kind of an idiot do you think I am?" :)

I'm not going to touch on the ship first part of this but a few things i can say i've been trading on this forum for a while now and these simple rules that i have followed and never had a problem

1) Get a phone # call him *non-cellphone*
2) Get a address check to see if that phone # is linked to that address
3) talk to the person for a while all the people i trade with i still talk to this day

If you getting paid thru paypal only ship to the confirmed address in paypal if that is how they paid for the item

Me and McOleg alone have done FS/FT items that now total reach around 26,000 + dollars and we have never had a problem sometime sending items that cost 3,000 + at a time just get to know who you are trading with it's pretty common sense stuff anybody that wants to hurry thru a deal and ship to me ship to me i need it so fast etc i see to many of these threads and always something ends up bad and people are like i know but i thought it was going to be okay etc ... just use common sense

i have shipped first, and yeah, its scary, because usually you're new when you ship out first, and don't know if you can trust these people or not.
i had asked someone earlier today to ship out first, because they had no heatware at all, and like about a dozen ebay feedbacks, one of which was negative! no way was i paying first. i have 52-0-0 heat and 88-0-0 on ebay. i think i had good cause to ask. (i got turned down, but better safe than sorry!)

Yeah, I got a neg ebay feedback because I won an auction and the guy told me he would email me the payment information, but he never did. I waited a week and sent several emails asking him to send the info so I could pay, but he never responded. Well, I left him bad feedback and he decided he would get even with bad feedback. Asshole. I hate that, and I usually pay right when I win to the minute, that kinda stuff pisses me off.

Yeah, I havent heard from that kid since that last conversation, not sure, but I think he backed off. :confused:

I never ship first if the other party has less heat than me, and normally only if they have a good bit more than me.. that said, i just shipped out my laptop (worth about $1200) for a trade, which he is getting the laptop first then shipping to me.. main thing is make sure communication is real good, otherwise don't ship first.. also if you ever uncertain about a deal don't set yourself up for getting trolled..

in this case, i'd say he has to pay first.. trolled or not before, you have what he wants, so he pays for it. you have more heat, and more posts. sometimes you just have to bite the bullet, and pay first, like i did with my laptop... i sent out 825 dollars to some guy out in california, and the longer waited the more i knew i was being trolled.... but then the laptop came, and my faith in humanity was restored. not all people are trolls, and most of the people can be trusted... but if your stupid about it, it will happen to you

I even told you that I was pp verified and that if anything was to go wrong, that you could just report me. You could have called my house and such and here you are, whining that I tried to scam you.
