Ok, I have a Gateway 9300 notebook that I am using a D-Link 690TXD ethernet card. I cannot get a Connection-specific DNS Suffix or a Default Gateway but I get 169.254.210.118 for my IP which isn't the one that my ISP gives and I get 255.255.0.0 for Subnet mask.
Does anyone know how I can get this thing to connect to the internet? This is really annoying .

Where are you supposed to get your internet from? Just a LAN ISP or something different? Turn the DHCP service on if it's accidentally off(some soft for optimization does this) Try to enter your connection specific settings manualy - maybe your card cannot reach the DHCP and get them from there.

Need more info like what are you plugging in to? (Cable Modem, DSL, Router, Hub Switch) That 169 address is likely an auto assigned address since the laptop cant find an authorized DHCP server.
So the question is what are you trying to plug the network card in to? Does it show you have a connection?
I can help but need more info.
