Can't get win2k SP4 installed(atapi.sys error)

I am trying to get sp4 for win2k installed and gets to the point where it is inspection system and then flashes a message that some program has atapi.sys open and that I need to close that program except nothing is running.

Any one got any ideas.

can be a bad cdrom drive, media or ram...

Try using a different CD-ROm drive, I had that same problem. Once I got it installed, I installed my old CD-ROM drive and it worked, for some reason it didn't like the drive during the install.

I will try removing the cd-rom thanks for the tip.

That work it installed no problem at all.

Unfortunately my video card took a dive some how in the process of unplugging the cd-rom.


Just wondering but cr drive where you using when you had the trouble.
