My mobo has a spdif header (9pins) right on the pcb (not the backplane). I'm looking into hacking it to connect to the digital input of my fps2000 (4.1) speakers.
The fps2000's have a 9-pin round din plug, as well as an adaptor to the yellow minijack that fits into Creative cards digital output socket.
According to the mapping below (of the speaker input), pin 6 is spdif in, and 1&2 are ground.

Can I run a pair of wires from the (spdif out/ground pins) mobo to pins 1 and 6 on this cable and get digital sound to these speakers?
